Helianthus x multiflorus 'Capenoch Star'
[ height 5-6 ft.., flower bright yellow, sun to part shade, clump former ]
MANY-FLOWERED SUNFLOWER One of the parents of this hybrid is H. annus the stereotypical sunflower with giant flowers. H. ‘Capenoch Star’ has much smaller lemon yellow flowers but unlike H. annus it is a true perennial. Plants and foliage can look tattered after flowering and so cutting them back will improve their appearance. The two species that comprise the H. x multiflorus hybrids are native to North America. Plants do spread and given their tall stature do require space in the garden.
