Aster frikartii (x) 'Monch'
[ height 3 ft., lavender blue flowers in summer, sun, clump former ]
ASTER Valuable plants that are lavish bloomers for summer and fall gardens. Grow well in reasonably moist, fertile soil. Wet soil in winter can be detrimental. Leaves are undivided, narrow, linear and sometimes toothed. Whacking tall types in early summer will produce a more compact plant, although flowering will be delayed a bit. Aster (x) frikartii ‘Monch’- Flowers are a pleasing lavender blue with a diameter of 2 – 2 ½ inches. The ray flowers or petals are thin and are somewhat lacy in appearance. Good powdery mildew resistance is a welcome in humid summers.
