Weigela florida 'Elvera' (Midnight Wine) This dwarf mounding shrub has dark metallic burgundy (near black) leaves. A single plant makes a fine specimen or it can be grouped together as a groundcover. It makes an excellent foil and companion plant in a perennial garden where contrasting foliage is desired. Showy funnel-shaped flowers are an added bonus. Prune only after flowering since it flowers on last year's twigs. Prospers in average garden soil.
